Comics & Graphic Novels for the School Library

UPDATE: I am so very happy to say that, while I was sitting in a session on grant funding at the Washington Library Media Association Conference, this project funded 100%!

Thank you to Meredith Browand, Kim Waterman, Joey Snoke, Shirley Wall, Herb Walmach, Zoe Ann Gleason, Louise Galassi, Scott Parker-Anderson, Christi Carpenter and an anonymous donor for supporting this project that will put readable books into the hands of older struggling readers and give them the opportunity to experience the joy in reading rather than the frustration.

(Can I get a round of applause for that?)

For those of you that aren’t aware. I went back to work this fall as the school librarian at East Port Orchard Elementary. I inherited a library that is bright and beautiful, but needs a lot of work in the collection department.

I want to make sure my students have the materials they need to succeed, so I just created a request for my library at High-Interest Low-Readability Graphic Novels for the Library.

Give to my library by October 4 and your donation will be doubled thanks to Just enter the code INSPIRE on the payment page and you’ll be matched dollar for dollar (up to $100).

If you chip in to help my students, you’ll get awesome photos and our heartfelt thanks.

Thank you so much,

P.S. If you know anyone who may want to help my classroom, please pass this along! SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!!!
